  • SPEAKER_02: Good, how you doing?

  • SPEAKER_00: Okay.

  • Alex Trebek: This is Alex Trebek.
  • Alex Trebek: Who are you calling?
  • SPEAKER_00: Okay.
  • SPEAKER_00: Are you trying to reach Jose?
  • Alex Trebek: Who's Jose.
  • SPEAKER_00: Jose Konseco?

  • Alex Trebek: I was not trying to reach Jose Konseco.
  • Alex Trebek: What I think is happening is there is somebody or a group of people out there who have found phone numbers
  • Alex Trebek: for different celebrities, and they have found the way I believe, I believe,
  • Alex Trebek: to call both numbers at the same time, and both individuals pick up, and they don't know
  • Alex Trebek: what the hell the call is all about.
  • Alex Trebek: Which, Alex, do you think you're talking to?
  • SPEAKER_03: Alex, I was trying to get through.
  • Alex Trebek: Drew?
  • SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
  • Alex Trebek: Oh, no, uh, there's no Drew here.
  • Alex Trebek: Who is this?
  • Alex Trebek: Is this Jose?
  • SPEAKER_03: Yes.
  • Alex Trebek: Oh, this is Alex Trebek, the host of Jeopardy.
  • SPEAKER_03: Yes, Alex.
  • Alex Trebek: And now the phone is ringing again out there somewhere.
  • Alex Trebek: You hear it?
  • SPEAKER_03: Do you need to answer it?
  • Alex Trebek: No, no.
  • Alex Trebek: It's ringing, and maybe they're trying to get a third person involved.
  • Alex Trebek: I've gotten calls from butcher shops in Chicago saying, we're ready to confirm your order.
  • Alex Trebek: Somebody's just screwing with the telephone system, and as I said, they found a way to, you know, call different people and get them on the line at the same time.
  • SPEAKER_03: And you're talking about a butcher bar?
  • Alex Trebek: And a restaurant in Atlanta.
  • Alex Trebek: And now you've got a music on there, so they've managed to screw up three lines, it looks like.
  • Alex Trebek: So we just have to live with this kind of crap.
  • Alex Trebek: Jose, sorry about it.
  • SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry.
  • SPEAKER_03: Where is this place located that you're talking about?
  • SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
  • SPEAKER_03: Oh.
  • SPEAKER_03: Well, how did you get my residence here?
  • Alex Trebek: Jose, I don't have your residence number.
  • Alex Trebek: Okay, whoever's screwing with us has all these numbers.
  • Alex Trebek: Has all these numbers, and they're managing to cross-patch them.
  • Alex Trebek: so that our phones ring at the same time, and, you know, we don't know what the hell it's all about.
  • Alex Trebek: So we're in the dark, and they're having fun, I guess.
  • None: Who knows?
  • SPEAKER_03: I sure am sorry about that, and I hope it doesn't continue.
  • Alex Trebek: Well, they go in spurts.
  • Alex Trebek: I don't know if it's when they're drinking or whatever, but hopefully it won't happen again today.
  • Alex Trebek: But it may.
  • Alex Trebek: I've gotten a few calls on the same day from grocery stores in Memphis, Atlanta, and the second one today.
  • SPEAKER_03: I've gotten about four myself today.
  • Alex Trebek: Oh, okay, so they're on a roll.
  • Alex Trebek: And they're the phone's ringing again in the background.
  • Alex Trebek: I don't know whose line that is.
  • SPEAKER_03: Okay.
  • Alex Trebek: Let's hope we get lucky.
  • SPEAKER_03: Thank you, sir.
